Evergleam® Safety Tree

Evergleam® Safety Tree

We put ours up yesterday. We also do a real one downstairs every year, but we started putting this up a couple years ago. My daughter loves it.

My original Evergleam® “Safety Tree” proudly made in Manitowoc, Wisconsin during the 60’s! Its supposed to be 6 foot tall, but the stand must have been 24” high to reach such acclaimed height. “Vintage” ornaments provided by my mom to my wife.

Our Evergleam® is an Item 4206, Style “Swirl”, 6 foot, 94 branch, with the original box.

This one originally belonged to my grandmother, and was the first tree I really remember.

If you are into old paper, I've scanned the assembly instructions and put them here:

If you are into these trees, check out the great book "Seasons Gleamings".

Season’s Gleamings is the first book to celebrate these magnificent trees. More than 50 stunning color photographs reveal the beauty and range of aluminum arbor, from green-foil tabletop models to majestic seven-footers. Photographers J. Shimon & J. Lindemann have trained their camera on their own collection of vintage trees, capturing them complete with hi-fi’s and highballs.

A shining beacon to the optimism of the Space Age, a monument of Pop innovation, and proof of American manufacturing prowess, the aluminum tree announced the arrival of the modernist Christmas. Season’s Gleamings is a luminous monument to these symbols of America’s love for Christmas, and the ultimate reminder of how beautiful a tree can be.

Happy Holidays!

Matt
